However, the best chance to "win" at the search engine game is to ensure you can publish a lot of content easily, professionally and in a categorised manner. Search engines eat and breathe text - its all they do. So that's how you get the best results - by feeding the search engines as much fresh text as you can. In this regard, you have a few options:
Google AdWords campaign - when someone searches on Google, they see "natural results" on the left hand side. On the right hand side are AdWords listings - you pay a few cents to Google everytime someone clicks on your AdWords advertisement. Please note that this is not "Search Engine Optimisation" - it is classified advertising. And results on the "first page of Google" in the AdWords section is nothing like having organic first page results.

At the end of October, 2010, Google changed the way it presented a majority of search results. The changes made are nothing short of a complete turn-around.
Any time a user searches for a location and a service/product, the most read results nearly always come from the Google Places search engine and not the "natural" Google results.
